This Solar Powered Ceiling Fan is home made and runs totally on tiny solar panels during the day. The more the sun beats down, the faster it spins and cools! There is a plastic planetary gear system designed for small toys that I used to give the tiny 1.5 volt direct current motor enough torque to turn the large by comparison lightweight foil bubble wrap blades that were hot melt glued to a copper wire skeleton.
